To the ER I guess

I apologize in advance for the length of this email. This week was just one of those weeks so I don’t have much to say. I also want to mention that it always sort of bothered me reading missionary emails because it seemed like every week was filled with teaching and the spirit and miracles and endless baptisms and new investigators, but that’s not how the mission is. There are definitely some awesome experiences you could never have just at home, but there are also some days and weeks that are long and laborious. It’s very important to stay positive and optimistic about a mission, but I don’t want to sugarcoat anything. I want my emails to be optimistic, but realistic too. So I’m going to make my emails as genuine as possible highlighting the highs as well as the lows.

This week was a pretty rough one for Elder Grubbs, but I know the mission isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. However, there’s always a rainbow after it rains so I’ll try to stay positive as well. I had an exchange with Elder King who actually went to Viewmont. He came in this transfer and it’s been fun to get to know him and the people we both knew from high school. The day was pretty cold and rained all day and neither of us had jackets. I had my thin rain jacket that doesn’t do much for the cold, and Elder king didn’t have anything besides his short-sleeved white shirt. So we were pretty cold… but it was a decent day.

Wednesday was pretty crazy because elder Christensen’s resistance bands broke while they were attached to a curl bar he was using to do squats. It sent the curl bar launching towards his foot and cut it open down to the bone. So we took him to the ER and he got some stitches in his foot and he’s been on crutches all week.

Saturday we drove down to Bonham for Elder Speyer to baptize an investigator he had been previously teaching. When he got all dressed up in his whites she was coughing up blood and had to go to the hospital and never got baptized. So we stayed there for a couple more hours in Bonham and it was just a really weird day.

That’s it for this week. I apologize for it being so short. Next week I promise to have a spiritual thought as well. But until then, please keep emailing me and updating me on your lives. I love hearing from yall and it’s always a highlight of my day to see an email from family or friends. I love you all very very much! Muchos Besos! And remember, God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good!!

Love,

Elder Grubbs
