Wow what a fast week!! It wasn’t super eventful but we were just busy and it went by fast. It started off kinda boring but some cool things happened
Thursday we had a lesson with Shalonda and Sister Ault came with us again. This time it was just Shalonda and she talked our ears off like always. But this time we were at her house for a little over 2.5 hours!! It was crazy. But it was super fun to talk with her and hopefully, she’ll start coming to church. She’s also basically sharing the gospel without realizing it! She takes the Book of Mormon to work every day and her assistant was asking about it and was confused. Her assistant said that she’d only heard things about it and was pretty skeptical. But Shalonda said you’ll never actually know until you read it for yourself. Even though she may not have a great testimony on the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, she still shared it with her assistant and planted a seed whether she realizes it or not.
Friday we had interviews with President and Sister Seitz and it was so good. I love talking with them and they’re so genuine and want what’s best for us and the mission. Sister Seitz always assigns “homework” at mission conference and asks us about it for interviews. She assigned some scriptures and questions about the holy ghost and his role and stuff. Sister Seitz was super impressed with my study and said it was one of the best ones she’d heard so far. So that was super cool and I’m glad my work payed off. The study was super good and I felt the spirit, but it was also nice to have an authoritative figure appreciate my insights. After interviews we met up with Elder Keeler who left the mission when I got here. So we talked with him and his parents for a bit and it was fun.
Saturday was pretty cool. We did a lot of service and it was way fun. We went to Barbs to roll out some hay and then to Brother Toye’s to set up a bed and clean out his closet. After that we did a ton of street contacting and there were some cool miracles. I felt impressed to go a certain way and that led us to an older couple both in wheelchairs and we talked with them and helped take their trash and other junk to the curb which idk how he was gonna do it himself in a wheelchair cause there was a lot. But we helped them and it was cool. Then we met this other lady and we helped her put a package inside so she didn’t have to bend down and we talked and her Sister is a member and it was cool.
That night we had dinner at the Bivens and I love their house!! It’s so pretty and I love how they decorated it. It just felt like a home and it was so nice. After that we went over to check on Alfred and Norma and I guess she was staying with her daughter for a bit so it was just Alfred. We talked and had a super spiritual lesson with him and invited him to church. He said all the same excuses he says and I was bummed but then Elder speyer put his foot down and promised he would feel peace and joy if he came and so Alfred agreed. It was so cool and he was all excited. He told us he was gonna set out all his clothes and press them before he came and it was cute.
Sunday was super cool!! Alfred came to church!!! It was so awesome!! And the bangerters spoke in church and it was amazing. The spirit was so strong and it was such a powerful meeting. I knew I needed to hear everything they said. It helped me so much and I’m so grateful for them and their sweet testimonies. After church we went to jimmies and he said he “ordered the pizza yesterday and heated it up” but we all know he didnt order it on Saturday. It was definitely fresh… but anyways, he got everything from pizza hut. He had 6 pizzas, 8 boxes of brownie and cookie pans, 6 boxes of Cinnabons, and 3 boxes of wings. We were like “Jimmie we don’t need this much food!!” It was ridiculous. But I love Jimmie regardless of the food he buys us. He’s super fun to spend time with.
Then this morning we went mountain biking and it was pretty fun! The trails are nothing like Utah trails but it was still fun haha.
Not a super exciting week but it was good one. Thank you everyone who emailed me and sent me things! I love and appreciate it so much! And for those of you who didn’t email me… very sad, very disappointing. Su madre se avergonzarÃa! just kidding haha. Love you all and hope you have a good week! Muchos Besos!! And remember, God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good.
Love,
Elder Grubbs
