Jan 24th

This week was filled with many mixed emotions but I’m trying my best to stay positive. One thing that I’ve learned is that sometimes you gotta fall face-first on the pavement to get a taste of failure, but eventually you’ll learn not fear it. After all there are few things in this world more resilient than the human spirit.

The highlight of the week was our lesson with Alfred. He was explaining how he’s been struggling with bills and wants to be closer to God’s spirit. Before we came he was studying the spirit in the book of Mormon. I felt so strongly to talk about the gift of the holy ghost. We read 2 Nephi 31 about baptism and the gift of the holy ghost. He keeps saying he’s already been baptized and we’ve been trying to explain authority and what not. But I testified of the power of having the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost and it was so cool. He was crying and I was close to tearing up. We invited him to be baptized and talked about it and he said, “if God wants me to be baptized again, I’ll be baptized again.” And he was all excited and put his Baptism date on his calendar and it was cute. We’re still working on his smoking but he’s super close and he’s been doing so good. He said to give him 2 weeks and he’ll stop. He’s already stopped drinking and he’s already stopped smoking before so I know he can do it. If there’s anyone that has grown my testimony of loving the people, it’s Alfred. I have grown to love him so much and it makes me so happy to see him making this decision to be baptized and come closer to his savior.

Mosiah 23:10 says, “Nevertheless, after much tribulation, the Lord did hear my cries, and did answer my prayers, and has made me an instrument in his hands in bringing so many of you to a knowledge of his truth.” My invitation to y’all this week is to pray to be an instrument in the hands of the Lord. Something else I’ve learned is that you’re not only an instrument in the hands of the lord when you teach others the gospel, but when you are an answer to someone’s prayers. There are so many people that are struggling, and you can be an answer to their prayers and strengthen them in their weakness.

I hope y’all had a fantastic week. Don’t forget to email me and tell me all about your life updates. It always makes my day to see and read an email from family and friends. I love you all. Muchos Besos! And remember, God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good!

Love
