Hay there

Howdy y’all!! This week flew by! Not even the week but the transfer too. I can’t believe there’s only 1 week left in the transfer. Once the transfer ends I’ll have been in Paris for 6 months! I think it’s pretty safe to say I’m getting transferred, but hey ya never know. I’m praying I’ll stay but I know it’s a long shot. I don’t wanna leave. I also just don’t like change. I like things staying the way they are once I get comfortable. But that’s the opposite of what a mission is.

This week definitely had its ups and downs. Especially with Alfred. I have been with Alfred through it all. It’s been super awesome to see his heart soften and accept the gospel. We talked about his baptism and set a date and he’s been super excited. We have to have the baptismal interview a week before the baptism so we had his interview on Saturday. I was praying so hard. He’s been trying to quit smoking but is struggling quite a bit. We had his interview and it went super good but he’s still struggling with Word of Wisdom stuff and it was just hard cause he made it seem like he didn’t wanna change. He said he’s been drinking coffee and tea and stuff for 45 years and he’s still received blessings and it was just hard. He has literally come so far and it made me so sad for him not to pass the interview. We talked with him more and he’s definitely willing to change but it’s a habit he has to break so who knows how long that will take. It was just really hard on me because I’ve been working so hard with Alfred visiting him every single day and I wanna support him and be at his Baptism. But since he didn’t pass the interview he can’t get baptized for at least another week and by then I’ll probably be transferred. So that’s been weighing heavy on me. I just want to be there for him and see him make that next step. But it’s okay. Heavenly Father will work everything out.

Saturday morning we did service at Barbs and boy did we not know what we were getting ourselves into… the cows had gotten out of their field area and into the pen with all the hay bales. So we had to fix the fence so they couldn’t keep coming in. Then we started rolling a bale and it fell over. Each bale is close to 1000 LBS and take in mind its just me and Elder DeSpain. We tried to flip it back but to no avail. So we had to untie it, and pitchfork it into wheel barrows and wheel it to the hay rings. I had no idea how compacted these hay bales were until we tried to take it apart. It took us 3 hours. It was ridiculous. Idk if you have ever moved hay around but it gets everywhere. There’s dust everywhere and you breathe it in and it’s terrible. Hay gets in your hair, down your shirt, in your pants, in your shoes. Literally everywhere. And it’s SOOOO itchy. It was not a fun experience to say the least. When we got back and showered I had a rash all over my back and shoulders, up my neck and on my face. My allergies were so bad. It was terrible!! But I’m glad we were able to help Barb.

Also, the Superbowl was yesterday and it’s awfully convenient when you go to a member’s house for dinner… 👀 and the Rams won!!! Heck yeah!!! I honestly didn’t care that much who won but I’ve always enjoyed watching Jalen Ramsey. It was a fun game to watch.

Today is Valentines day and I truly hope each and every one of you feels special. It doesn’t matter if you have a significant other or not. We are all children of our Heavenly Father and his love for us is unfathomable. That love isn’t conditional or conditioned on our decisions and choices. He loves us all no matter what. Don’t forget to thank your Heavenly Father for the many blessings he has bestowed upon you. And make sure to express your love for him. He’s only one prayer away and he loves hearing from his children.

I love you all and hope you enjoy your Valentines day. Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers. It means so much to me and I appreciate it more than you’ll ever know. Muchos Besos! And remember, God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good!!!
