¡Feliz Pascua!

¡Buenas Días amigos! This week was pretty good for Elder Grubbs. Tuesday after district council I went down to Carthage for an exchange with Elder Siggard. It was fun to spent the day with him and talk about old times back when he was in Paris with me. It was nice to reminisce and remember memories that I had forgotten.

We had this lesson with this dude James and we taught him the gospel of Jesus Christ but I wanted to focus on the gift of the Holy Ghost and really emphasize it because he hasn’t really seen the importance of baptism. I shared a few things and it was a super cool lesson. We got him on date for next Sunday I believe so that’ll be cool for the Carthage elders.

That night we got a Tornado warning so we had to book it inside. The thunder and lighting was insane. We stood outside and watched it for a little cause it was super cool. I’ll try to attach a video below. There were some crazy close lighting strikes but it was sweet to watch.

Wednesday we had this dinner with a member but she just heated up those like frozen dinner things you stick in the microwave. It was absolutely terrible. The chicken I had didn’t have the texture of chicken at all. But it was edible and I was still grateful that she provided a meal for us. We were all choking down our food and then her dog goes up to Elder Kennedy so he pets him, but then the dog projectile vomits on him. It was soooo funny I was trying so hard not laugh.

That night we had a lesson with Llamely, Javier,(about 32 years old) and Izac their 8 year old son. It was super cool and they actually opened up to us a ton. We talked for over an hour and a half and it was super good. They would be pretty cool members and I know their son izac was pretty excited about coming to church. Elder Dawe went to the bathroom and Javier asked if I was married and I laughed and said no. And aske if I had a girlfriend and I explained what happened and stuff. Then he asked how old I was, so I said 18 almost 19 and Llamely goes, “I told you they were younger!” So I asked how old they thought I was and she said 20-22 and he thought I was around 24-26. I thought it was hilarious. I was very honored because I know that I look 16 and people have definitely asked if I was 16 before. So it was a nice compliment.

Friday my 2nd cousins that live in Longview surprised me for lunch! The other Elders were acting so weird and I didn’t know why until I saw my family at Jucy’s Burgers. It was super fun to see them because it’s been like 3 years. Then that night we had an Easter egg hunt/ ward party. Llamely, Javier and Izac came! It was super cool. Javier tossed the football around with us and it was super fun. It was nice for me to actually hangout and talk with the members because I don’t really know them at all. I also talked with brother Matt Meyers in the ward and it was super cool because he asked if my dad was Todd and we talked about how he knew my dad and my grandpa. Apparently he was home teachers with my grandpa or something it was super cool. Then his wife is from Bountiful so she asked if I went to Woods Cross and it was fun talking to someone that new stuff back home. After we got home we went on a little run which was nice but I’m definitely out of shape. It was only 1.5 miles but I was dying after.

Saturday night I wanted to run again cause I need to lose some weight… so Elder Kennedy agreed to go with me and last minute we decided to run to down town and back, so it was like a 4 mile run total but it felt good. I’m still sore haha but it was a good run. I also decided to wear a sweatshirt so I would sweat more and work harder, but it sucked. It was 75⁰ with 93% humidity, so being in a hoodie was the worst.

Easter! Sunday was really good. Sister Harris spoke about her son that lived only 14 days or something and it was so sad but it was a really good talk. She talked about the atonement and how she hopes she will have the chance to raise her son in the next life. It was a very tender testimony meeting.

This morning we went golfing with the bishops son and it was soooo fun. I’m really bad but I actually ended up beating the other Elders and bishop’s son(he’s 12). I definitely think it’ll be something I’ll enjoy a lot in the future.

This week during one of my studies I red through the testimonies of the 3 witnesses and testimony of the 8 witnesses and Joseph Smiths. It was super cool and there’s also the Title page that’s before the introduction and before the contents page that was the translated introduction to the book of Mormon. I had never read it before but it was super cool. The last 2 sentences say,

“And also to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations—And now, if there are faults they are the mistakes of men; wherefore, condemn not the things of God, that ye may be found spotless at the judgment-seat of Christ”

I just love that so much. The book of Mormon is a testament of Jesus Chrisf that he IS the living Christ and Savior of the world. I love the last sentence too. It’s basically saying that if you are looking for ways to bash on the book of Mormon, you’re gonna find them because you don’t have the right attitude. The book of Mormon is the word of God and no matter what anybody uses against it. And if you choose to deny it or find ways to disagree with it, you will be held accountable for it at the judgment day. I love the book of Mormon so much. I invite you all to change your attitude towards the book of Mormon. Even if you do have a testimony of it already. Change your attitude to be more accepting and open your heart to the divine truths that are taught in the book of Mormon. I know that as you do that, you will see God’s hand in your life and you will gain a stronger genuine testify and love for the gospel. You will find yourself closer to your Heavenly Father and your savior Jesus Christ. I love you all and I’m constantly praying for you. Muchos Besos! And remember, God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good!
