Copperheads & nerf darts

Wow what a week! This week flew by which is good haha. It was pretty eventful too. We just had a lot of really random little adventures. We went over to Sister Foster’s house to move some more wood. Before we started she had this old bathtub in the bed of her truck that probably weighed close to 500 LBS. She wanted us to pick it up and carry it through her house to her back bedroom. It was very tedious but after Elder Kennedy tripping, Elder dawe catching it, and Elder Heiner and I shoulder pressing it to get over the bed, we eventually got it where she wanted it.

To make this adventure even crazier, we lifted up some wood and this big copper head was just chillin there. It was agitated too so it was terrifying. It kept striking and slithering. Pretty sketchy stuff. But the neighbor pulled out his .45 and shot it lol. It was quite the experience for sure.

Wednesday we had Zone Conference in Longview and we was after Gilmer’s zone conference so I got to see some friends as they were coming out. It was super fun to see my old district and missionaries I served around like my son 🙌

We did some more running this week which is good but it’s so hard to have the motivation to run after a long day of missionary work. ALSO I had a little nerf gun that I got for Christmas and Elder Kennedy asked if he could put a thumb tack at the end of one of the bullets. It was fun shooting it and having it stick in the wall. Then of course as 19 year old boys do, we had a brilliant idea. They started to shoot me to see if it would stick. Let me tell you, it definitely stuck… but it was worth it.

We had a lot of lessons cancel and people reject us but it was still a good week. Like 3 people in a row looked at us through the window, waved, or said they were coming to the door but never answered. We were shook. But what can you do 🤷‍♂️ Last week I was practicing my Spanish so I was doing all of our door contacts and I had a super embarrassing moment. So the verbs “to share” and “to buy” sound very similar. So rather than asking to share a message and scripture, I point blank, as confident as I could be, asked this woman if we could buy a message about Jesus Christ. It was pretty embarrassing but hey that’s how you learn. Trial by fire right?

Yesterday I had an amazing birthday! I appreciate all the love and birthday wishes. Fasting wasnt my favorite thing to do on my bday but it was a good day. I had some family in Longview that brought me some cookies and the greenigs made cupcakes for me at dinner. It was a really good day. Then we decided we were gonna do an all-nighter so we stayed up and did an ab workout at like 1:00 and then made waffles at 1:30 and then played skip-bo until 4. It was fun but I think the next few days are gonna be pretty brutal haha.

This week I’ve been thinking a lot about the Sacrament. So many people that we’re teaching commit to come to church but never do. So teaching them about the importance of this sacred ordinance has strengthened my testimony. I’ve always loved the words spoken in the prayers. They help us to remember the convents we have made with our Heavenly father, and the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for us. He provided the way, the opportunity to repent of our sins and come unto him. I’m so grateful for the sacrament and that i get to participate in this ordinance every week. I invite you to ponder on the words of the sacrament prayers and think about the covenants you have made. I hope everyone had an amazing week and I wish yall the best. Muchos Besos! And remember, God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good!

All my love
