Pickleball & Old Ladies

Kinda weird that there’s one more week until the transfer is over. Each day feels like an eternity but the weeks have gone by pretty fast. Next Sunday we’ll get the emails about who’s staying and who’s leaving. It’s definitely weird to think about the apartment and district changing already.

This week I played pickleball with some older couples and they were so good. It was just embarrassing how bad I was compared to them. I never thought there were old ladies that could move so fast and be so good at pickleball. Blew my mind. My ego definitely took a hit but nothing wrong with that I guess haha.

April agreed to be baptized! We haven’t taught her everything and we already know we’re gonna have to move her date back but it was exciting to see that she wants to and is committed to being baptized. She came to church and even watched a session of general conference with us last week at the church. We have a lot to teach her still but she is super interested and it’s fun to talk with her and teach her. She told me I would be a great author and asked if I ever thought about writing a book. Pretty interesting… but I guess only time will tell if she’s right.

Hermana Oosterloo made us waffle tacos which was a waffle folded like a taco with egg omelet thing with ham inside. It was super good! She also has a few cats and one of is just a little kitten and she was so cute. Later that night we played basketball with the young men and it was super fun. Very sweaty in our pants and white shirts though…

On Thursday we did service at the Salvation Army and made a ton of food and it was way fun. It got so hot in the kitchen with the massive stoves and massive pan of beans that I was cooking but it was a lot of fun. All of the people that came and picked up food were really grateful and nice.

We went to Barbs house again for service Saturday morning and rolled out some more hay. But the bull got stuck in the ring so we had to lift the ring off of him without dying which was pretty sketchy. The bull and cows kept trying to eat from the bales we were trying to roll out and it was super scary especially with the bull. I had to push him away from the hay and it was terrifying cause he could’ve just swung his head and like crush my ribs. He was a big boy for sure but we finished everything safely. Barb also had a little puppy that’s 2 months old and she was soooooo cute. Her name was Zoey and she just hopped around and it was so cute.

Alma 7:23-24″23 And now I would that ye should be humble, and be submissive and gentle; easy to be entreated; full of patience and long-suffering; being temperate in all things; being diligent in keeping the commandments of God at all times; asking for whatsoever things ye stand in need, both spiritual and temporal; always returning thanks unto God for whatsoever things ye do receive.24 And see that ye have faith, hope, and charity, and then ye will always abound in good works.”

One of the things I realized I needed to work on is patience. Being with a companion that tells you every little thing you’re doing wrong can be really obnoxious… but I know that his job is to train me to be a better missionary and he has good intentions. I love how this scripture talks about being full of patience and long-suffering. We will all deal with challenges and hardships that will try our faith. It’s so important that we look at our trials with an eternal perspective and rather than wondering why it had to happen, think about how you can learn and change from that experience. Everything happens for a reason and I invite everyone to think about ways they can be more patient and loving.

This week wasn’t very exciting but I hope yall enjoyed the little adventures I had this week. I miss and love you all. You’re constantly in my prayers. Muchos Besos! And remember, God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good!

Love y’all
