Man what a week!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! This week was crazy busy but such a good one!! We had our last district Council of the transfer on Tuesday and it was super bittersweet. The spirit was so strong and hearing everyone’s testimony was so amazing and I just loved it. But it was also sad because at this point we didn’t know who was getting transfered or not.
Right after district Council I went straight down to Gilmer to do an exchange w one of the Zone leaders Elder Lakey. It was super fun especially because he was Elder Brubakers trainer.
Thanksgiving!! We started off the day with flag football!! We did a turkey bowl with the ward and it was super fun. The APs were even there and it was so fun. It got really competitive but it was literally the best! After football we drove down to Mt. Pleasant to have Thanksgiving with the Wilson’s. They had our whole district over for lunch and it was so fun!! Their family is literally the coolest and I love them so much. The food was amazing and then we played a bunch of games and it was such a blast! We ended up staying a lot longer at at Wilson’s than planned but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I honestly wish we could’ve stayed longer haha. It was literally so fun. But then we drove straight to the Aults for dinner! We had all 6 Elders, the other Ault family, the bangerters, some of the Aults family there too!! There were a ton of people but it was so fun. It was fun to socialize and have a nice relaxing day.
The weekend was busy but fun. I was asked to speak on Sunday and I was actually super nervous. But once I got to the stand it all felt so natural and I felt super good about it. A lot of people complimented me and it made me feel so much better because I was super worried. I just wanted people to feel the spirit.
We got transfer news last night and it was super scary!! Fortunately Elder Speyer and I will be staying!!! I’m sooooo happy I get to stay in Paris for Christmas! Sadly, Elder Siggard and Elder King are getting transfered:(( we expected Elder Siggard to go but definitely not Elder King. Especially because he’s still in training. I’m super sad to see him go and some of the best memories I’ve had on the mission have been with him. But hopefully I’ll get to serve around him sometime in the future. At first our email said that Elder Speyer was training so we were confused wondering if we were gonna be in a trio but then they said it was a typo. BUT one person from the MTC isn’t coming out so Elder Christiansen isn’t getting a new comp and he’ll be in a trio w us and they’re combining Paris north and south! So there’s some crazy changes! But I’m super excited for this next transfer. There’s a lot of work to do!
I’d like to end this email with a quote from my talk about compassion, “As we are compassionate in every area of our lives, we in turn display our divine love of God and the essence of our purpose here on earth.” I know that as we strive to be more compassionate to others, we are striving to become more like Christ. I’m praying for you all and hope you’ve had a fantastic Thanksgiving week. Muchos Besos!! And remember, God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good!!
Love,
Elder Grubbs
