My friends left me

🤧

This week was super busy but not super special honestly. First week of the transfer we’ve just been trying to adjust to all the new missionaries and figuring out what the heck to do. It feels like we are always so busy but it’s always just meetings and nothing exciting.

Monday night we had FHE! But this time we went to Candice and Lauren’s house for a “Paw Party”. It was a birthday party for Candice’s dog Canyon. He’s a big ol Golden retriever and 2 years old now! He’s such a cute dog! I’ll send a video of him!

Tuesday was transfers which is always sad. I hate seeing missionaries leave that I’ve grown so close to. But we said bye to Elder Curtis and then Sister Sharp came to say bye!! It was all very sad :((

Weekly Institute update: This week I honestly didn’t write a ton of notes but it was such a good meeting. Brother Richins served his mission in Ukraine and told us a story. Before that we talked about tithing and donations. The US and Canada cover most of the tithing and fast offering aid for the rest of the world. When he was serving it was $10,000 to serve a mission and the average person in Ukraine makes $30 a month. So recent converts and other members would have their interview with their Stake President about serving a mission, but they’d get to the question on how they will financially support the mission and they would break out into tears. They would excuse them from the room and pull out a list of 50-75 names and give one of them a call. He would say, “we’ve got another one worthy that desires to serve the Lord. After hanging up the phone $10,000 would be transfered into a bank account for the member to serve a mission. It was just such a cool story and Bro Richins said people are blessed with money so they can help others. I would love to be someone on that list. I just wanna be able to do that for somebody else. We talked about a few other things but that was the main story.

On Thursday we had mission conference which was super good! Sister Seitz talked about gratitude and it was super cool! She wants all of us to say gratitude prayers every week and have a gratitude journal. Everybody else’s trainings went long so president only said a few things which was really sad.

But Friday was MLC!! It was crazy cause there were a ton of new STLs and a few Zone Leaders. It was just weird with all my friends gone!! I was volunteered to do the musical number 2 days before MLC and I didn’t have anytime to practice and it was just really bad. I was super embarrassed afterwards. But what can you do 🤷‍♂️

Saturday we had a lesson with Austin and it was so cool. He shared some things he hadn’t told us before but how he reallly came to grow his testimony and it was so amazing to hear. Unfortunately he is getting a ton of threats from people at the shelter and they steal his clothes and it’s just a bad situation. But he is doing super good spiritually and he is such a great example to me of being Christlike and positive despite your circumstances.

On Sunday we had meeting after meeting it was ridiculous. We got 30 min total between lunch and dinner. But update: Amelia was mad at me because church last week she asked a ton of questions about the temple and I had to tell her that I couldn’t answer her questions. I wanted her to know that everybody has questions and that we don’t always get the answers when we want them. That bothered her I guess and was mad at me cause the other Elders always gave her answers. But she came to a fireside that we had tonight with President Neilson (A councilor in the Mission Presidency) It was all about forgiveness and she was just bawling. She left for a bit and came back and said it was exactly what she needed to hear. It was like everything she was struggling with just hit right on the head. It was super cool. Then we had like an hour long lesson with her right after and it was crazy! She asked about D&C and Moses and we were super worried but she loves it!! She knows the book of mormon is true and knows it has made her relationship with God closer than she has ever been. But she’s still hungup on Joseph Smith and modern day prophets. She’ll get there though.

I love you all dearly and hope you have an amazing week!! Muchos Besos!! And remember, God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good!

All my love,

Elder Grubbs
