Champions

Yoooo what’s uuuuuup!! This was a super dope week for Elder Grubbs and went by pretty dang fast too. We had interviews this week so it was awesome talking w president and Sister Seitz and get some insight on learning Spanish haha. But then we went on exchanges and I was w Elder Mecham. We grinded and did some street contacting in this trailer park. It was a little intimidating knowing that his Spanish is worse than mine because he was assigned English speaking, but regardless it was good and we met some cool people.

We met this lady Melanie or “Dulce” is her real name.  We hadn’t even knocked her door yet but she heard us get rejected by another dude and she said she wanted to hear a message. We started talking and she’s super cool. She goes in for pretty intense surgery this Friday so it was cool to bring her a little bit of comfort.

I was expecting to have a cool Cinco de mayo w authentic Mexican food but nobody even celebrates it here lol. So we got a 5 tacos for $5 at Jucys taco. We got bashed a few times this week but nothing major. Just pissed me off. I just don’t understand why people get hungup on the dumbest things. Like they argue over things that literally don’t matter at all. But whatever, their exaltation not mine…. kidding!! Kinda…

Saturday was literally sooooo fun! In the morning we went to Izac’s soccer game again but it was the championship game. Elder Dawe and I were getting so hyped and cheered for Izac. It was the most intense 7 year old soccer game I’ve ever watched. It was tied so it came down to penalty kicks at the end. We made 4 and they made 3 and we each had 1 kicker left. So if we made it, we win. If we missed, they have a chance to tie the game. This little kid named Oscar came in clutch and scored the winning goal so we took the dub. It was so dope. Everyone rushed the field and celebrated. Then later that afternoon they had a party w the soccer team and their families and they invited us. We pulled up to Izac’s house and they had 2 huge blow up waterside things and they were blasting music from 2014 and making tacos. The tacos were literally divine. One of the best blessings of being in a Spanish area, the food 👀 but we just played basketball and hangout w everyone it was way cool. Even though we didn’t talk about the gospel or anything we definitely planted a lot of seeds. My hope is that they realize that we’re just normal people rather than whatever things people say about “mormons”. I mean we played basketball and sang 1 direction and Miley Cyrus songs so I’d say that’s pretty normal.

That night we went to DQ for Facebook and we started talking a the Chick that was working and she told me I looked like an actor. Fully expecting Tom Holland, I asked her which actor and she said Kit Conners which took me by surprise. I looked up the dude and I def don’t look like him but who knows. Then she gave me and Elder Dawe her snapchat lol

Sunday I gave a talk in the group in Jefferson. It’s definitely easier giving a talk when there’s only 15 people there. But it was cool because I got to see the Browns who are a family up in Paris when I served there. Sister browns mother and sister are in the Jefferson group so they visited for mothers day. It was good to see them.

Because if mothers day I wanted to share a quote from Elder Holland and famous poet Jean-Luc Pierre

“No love in mortality comes closer to approximating the pure love of Jesus Christ than the selfless love a devoted mother has for her child. They not only bare us, but bare with us. It is not only the prenatal carrying but the lifelong carrying that makes mothering such a staggering feat”-Jeffrey R. Holland

“The gentle, intimate love of a mother is unlike any other love acheivable and ultimately denotes that there is a loving God watching over his children” -Jean-Luc Pierre

Hope y’all had an awesome week and a fantastic Mothers Day!! Please let me know if there’s anyone that I can pray for. Love y’all so much! Muchos Besos! And remember, God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good!
